HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The ninth-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Golf team opened play at the Sunshine State Conference Championships at Mission Resort + Club's Colinas Course on Sunday. The Sharks, led by
Ariana Carvalho (1st/-3), hold a five-stroke lead over the field following the first day of competition.

First Round Results
- Ariana Carvalho finished the first round as the individual leader, ending the day at three-under. Carvalho opened with four straight pars, and shot a bogey-free back-nine, in which she tallied four birdies.
- Lua Pousa Dacasa (T13/74) recorded three birdies in the opening round.
- Maria Torres-Lobato (T13/+3) ended the day tied with Dacasa and also added three birides in the opening round.
- Haruka Muta (19/+4) closed the evening with momentum, as after a birdie she recorded five consecutive pars.
- Rosanna Halls began the day with six consecutive pars and finished the round with four straight, ending the day at seven-over.
